New Motorola Droid RAZR, 5-inch HTC Smartphone & iPhone 5/6 Hitting Verizon

Thursday, April 26, 2012

Verizon will launch a bunch of new mobile devices later this year, and it looks like its smartphone roadmap for the remainder of the year has been leaked. In case you’re thinking about buying a new smartphone in the following months, then you’re surely going to like what’s coming to Verizon.
BGR has it that Verizon will carry a few interesting flagship handsets from leading manufacturers like Samsung, Motorola, HTC and Apple.

The Galaxy S III is apparently going to hit Verizon soon. The carrier chose not to offer the Galaxy S II to its subscribers, opting for the Galaxy Nexus instead, but the Galaxy S III will hit Big Red soon. The handset will be available at some point in the following months, possibly in summer, although release dates and pr
icing are not available at this time.

Joining the Galaxy S III we’ll see “multiple” Motorola RAZR devices, with the RAZR HD probably being the first of the pack to be released.

Also worth mentioning is an upcoming HTC high-end handset. It’s not a CDMA HTC One X version but a Galaxy Note-like handset. The unnamed device will sport a 5-inch touchscreen display with 1,080p HD resolution and non-PenTile technology, a quad-core Krait CPU and Adreno 320 GPU, HTC 5 and HTC Scribe support.

In addition to all these Android beasts, Verizon will launch the new iPhone, which is certainly something we all expect from the carrier. The iPhone 5/6 is apparently “slated for a fall release,” although exact launch dates are not available for the device yet.

We already know all these smartphones will come with LTE support on board as Verizon has stated a few times already that it will only launch LTE handsets this year. With that in mind, it looks like Verizon is getting ready for an exciting year when it comes to high-end LTE handsets. Are you interested in any of the devices mentioned in this leaked roadmap?

East TN firefighter's invention helps on the job safety

An East Tennessee firefighter has designed a new device to help his colleagues stay safe on the job. Now, his invention is grabbing the attention of fire departments across the country.
"We're so hot, we just pretty much cook inside," said Rural Metro reserve firefighter Michael Robinson Sr. about the heavy protective gear firefighters must wear. "When we come out of a fire environment, our number one priority is to cool off."

While fighting a house fire and brush fire in Heiskell last fall, one of Robinson's firefighter colleagues collapsed from heat exhaustion.
He recovered, and the incident inspired Robinson to begin researching rehab techniques.
"I never really knew how important rehab really was until I started researching, and how many firefighters had paid the ultimate price for this heat issue."
With his research, he created a device called the "HeatSeeker," a rehab mist cap that fits onto any water discharge pipe on a fire truck, hose, hydrant, or portable unit.
Robinson compares the mist to the type seen in the produce section of a grocery store. It can lower the surrounding air temperature and cool firefighters' body temperatures.
"We need to cool our core temperatures down in order for us to go back in the fire environment and perform our duties to the best of our abilities," he said.
Now, his invention is getting national attention. Two different industry magazines have published information about the HeatSeeker, and the device will also be featured in Popular Science magazine's June issue as one of 2012's best inventions.
Since Robinson patented his invention in October 2011, he has sold nearly 50 mist caps to fire departments from Alaska to New Mexico. He has donated caps to Rural/Metro Fire Department, Knoxville Fire Department, Karns Volunteer Fire Department, Andersonville Volunteer Fire Department and even New York City Fire Department.
A portion of every Heatseeker unit goes to the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation, breast cancer research, First Descents and the Terry Farrell Firefighters Fund.

Three Innovative Kitchen Gadgets

Wednesday, April 25, 2012

The days of peeling your vegetables with a knife have been over since we have been blessed with the peeler. The days of fine chopping your food by hand have been over since we have been graced with the presence of the food processor. Needless to say, innovations in the kitchen have allowed people around the globe to save time preparing their favorite meals.

Each day more and more useful cooking tools are being invented. Some of them save us time, some of them save money, and all of them can make it much for fun to cook all of your favorite things. One example is the Cravendale Milk Jug. This device is capable of measuring the milk that it holds and deciding if it is still good, fresh milk or if it has gone sour. This is a great way to make sure that you don't drink sour milk and that you don't waste your money on throwing milk away that you could have drank and been perfectly fine!

Another example of a neat innovation is an adjustable rolling pin. They have taken the guessing out of rolling bases when it comes to pies and pizza. It has a set of removable discs that not only make the rolling pin adjustable, but also make it easy to store. It also has 3 raised surfaces so you are able to measure thickness of whatever it is that you are rolling. This takes away the guesswork cooks everywhere are faced with when they have to roll out large items - and can also gauge the thickness. What a neat kitchen gadget!

We all know the frustration you get when you can't find the utensil that you are looking for. It seems that they are always around when you do not need them and disappear when you do! This has been solved by the Click n' Cook. It has a stainless steel base with 5 spatulas that click into the base. The spatulas vary from slotted to flat to extra wide. All of them are dishwasher safe and can be clicked right back into the Click n' Cook after you're finished.

These are just some examples of how much time and money can be saved by using kitchen gadgets. Through innovation and creativity, new gadgets are being designed to help us be more efficient in the kitchen.

Do you love kitchen gadgets? Whether you're looking for a muffin top pan or an apple peeler corer, you can find many different kitchen gadget reviews
